Ina Counselling Services (ICS) believes in therapy as a way to manage and cope with our feelings and emotions effectively during challenging times. We offer treatment services for children, youth, and individuals with anxiety, depression and behavioural challenges. It is our goal to offer supportive, realistic, empowering and effective treatment services that honour individuals’ and families’ needs and values. At ICS we aim to work in collaboration with you and your family.
During some of life's hardest moments, we believe you deserve a comfortable and non-judgemental space to explore, feel, cope, and grow.
We specialize in supporting children and youth (6-18 years old) who have challenges with anxiety, depression and disruptive behaviours at home, school and in the community. We work in partnership with children and caregivers to identify their challenging behaviour, develop a goal and establish an effective treatment plan.
Everyone experiences anxiety at some point in their life. However, some experience these feelings on a day-to-day basis or almost daily, making it challenging to carry on with daily activities.
Someone with anxiety may experience excessive fears and worries, agitation or a high degree of distress, perfectionism – wanting everything to be “just right” or a tendency to be excessively wary or vigilant. Different types of anxiety disorders include: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Disorder (PTSD), Separation Anxiety, Selective Mutism and Specific Phobias.
We empower individuals to practice bringing their awareness to their feelings, triggers, physical sensations in addition to identifying their experiences with anxiety by utilizing effective strategies and tools to promote confidence, resiliency and transformational healing.
Depression can manifest in various ways; it is not a one-size-fits-all experience. It can be due to a generalized or specific experience.
Depression may appear in the form of sadness or irritability, a lack of interest in activities once enjoyed, being passive and withdrawn most of the time and in any setting, feeling pessimistic and helpless, extreme sensitivity to rejection or failure, and even physical symptoms such as a decrease or increase in appetite or loss of energy.
Together we will establish an attainable goal. Working with depression often involves acknowledging, affirming and validating our feelings and thoughts. One therapeutic technique involves using tools to reframe our negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
We support individuals and families with coping strategies to manage stress, fear, worry, anxiety, depression and more. Together we will explore, identify and tailor coping strategies according to your needs.
Effectively and consistently implementing coping strategies can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
